We started with Lave as our POS system for both the cafe and event services within our establishment. After the cafe closed, we continued to use Lavu for our events. Lavu is used to ring up customer tabs at events and helps me as an accountant know how much in sales we received per type of item sold. I personally started with Lavu on the front end with ringing people up and now use it more on the back end with reporting.
  • Ease of setting up, editing, and deleting menu items.
  • Tracking employee hours
  • General reporting
  • Customer service
  • Reconciling between all tablets and backend reports. Occasionally receipts go missing and are difficult to track down.
  • Inventory
For a small company with little inventory, Lavu is a great simple POS system. For a larger company or a company where items are always changing, I would not recommend Lavu as more transactions increases room for error and ultimately takes away the time one doesn't have to figure out how to reconcile something. Customer service is not always able to fix the problem right away and can take months getting back to you on the reasoning behind a discrepancy in reports.
  • Quick simple way to ring up guests
  • Ability to track sales
  • Ability to track employee hours
  • Lavu does a great job tracking sales but has not helped in calculating accurate net income on sales with the lack of a good inventory system.
Square has a simpler interface but lower quality reporting for accountants.
